The Animal Resort

So we had a long weekend (yay!) and we were thinking where to go on the Hari Raya holiday. Instead of the usual indoor playground/water park/mall hopping activites, we decided to change our routine a little. I have heard about The Animal Resort for quite some time now and have always thought of bringing Aly there. So we decided to head up there.

We arrived at about 11.30 am and maybe because it was a public holiday and all, there was already a huge crowd there! The place opens at 10 am so if you are thinking of heading there in the morning, I would recommend that you go when it opens. The animals would also probably be more alert and responsive. Because by the time we reached, most of the animals would have eaten their fill and were not too interested when we tried to feed them. Haha.

I love the hand painted signs!

Admission to the Animal Resort is free. But you do need to buy the animal feed if you would like to feed them. It's not too expensive, $2 for 3 packs. There are different foods for different types of animals.

The first animal we saw was this prehistoric looking bird, called a Cassowary. We tried to feed it with bread and carrots but it didn't seem too interested. Haha.

So we went over to see the one and only horse. Apparently, he bites! So unfortunately we couldn't touch him. Aly was so scared of the horse and refused to go near it so Mummy ended up having to feed it!

All set to feed the horse

End up Mummy had to do it!

And then a family of geese appeared just as we were heading over to the pond to feed fish!

And then Aly surprised us by saying she wanted to feed the geese and starting chasing after them!

Finally caught up with them!

She surprised us by going so near the goose!

The goose was almost Aly's height! And as you see in the background, there were A LOT of people.

Next were the peacocks!

Aly was very into feeding the peacocks as well!

The very fierce looking Marabou Stork.

Tried to take a family selfie but Aly was not interested, then when we tried to take a couple selfie, she came and photo bombed us!

Aly trying to feed the rooster.

I have no idea what these birds are called, but Aly went around chasing them, trying to get them to eat her bread.

Some of the other birds there...

Next up were the rabbits and guinea pigs.

When we went into the Rabbit house, we saw that their feeding bowls are already full of food! But Aly managed to find a couple of rabbits who were still interested in nibbling her carrots. Haha

Guinea pigs!

This one very excited, actually tried to stand up!

Tried to take a photo with Aly but she was more interested in chasing and feeding the pigeons! Anyway this is a view of of how the place looks like, it's not a very big place, and you could probably cover the entire place in about 1 hour to 1.5 hours.

I would say that this is a good place to bring the kiddies. It's not everyday that they can get up close to animals and nature (yes, certain areas do smell very "natural"!). It's definitely better than being cooped up indoors all day and it's a good change of scenery. Oh, but do remember to bring your mosquito repellent if you do visit. But if you forget, I saw a sign that says you can buy it from them, so that should not be a problem.

Till next time!
