Work Day from Sahin Designs

Recently, I had the chance to create a layout using the Work Day bundle from Sahin Designs. I really love the corrugated paper in this kit and the little word strips. This kit is just great for scrapping photos with colleagues in the office. Well, I created a layout of Aly pretending to be working in the office... the little wannabe! Lol!

The kit can be found at Sahin Design's store here.

New Kit from Studio CT: Heading to the Zoo

One of Aly's all time favourite places is the Zoo. Our little family has been there quite a number of times, and I have accumulated so many pictures from our trips. When I saw Studio CT's new kit Heading to the Zoo, I knew it was just perfect for my zoo pictures! I really love this kit (am not just saying this because I'm in her Creative Team), it is just so fun to work with. What I love most are the super adorable animal elements, and the really fun word bits. There is just so much you can do with this kit.

The kit can be found in the Daisies & Dimples shop here.

And here's the layout I did of our Zoo trip earlier this year.

July Layouts

Here are two layouts I did recently.

This one is made using the kit Just Add Water by Heather Roselli and template from Cindy Schneider I'm a huge fan of Cindy's templates and I just love this Pool-themed one. This was just perfect for the photos I took recently using my sister's Gopro (thanks for the loan sis!). I'm seriously thinking of getting one too! Aly is just a water baby, she super enjoys swimming! With the Gopro we can finally take these cool and amazingly clear shots while having fun in the pool. I tried taking underwater shots too. Tried to get Aly to go underwater with me but she wasn't too keen. Lol.

I used the pictures taken on Mothers Day for this layout. Aly made this really sweet Mother's Day card from school and it's her first Mother's Day gift to me (*heart melts*). This layout is made using the kit Behind Every Good Kid by Jady Day Studio and template from Akizo Designs. This kit is just super sweet and I love the pastel and gold colours and the really sweet word strips and quotes.

The Animal Resort

So we had a long weekend (yay!) and we were thinking where to go on the Hari Raya holiday. Instead of the usual indoor playground/water park/mall hopping activites, we decided to change our routine a little. I have heard about The Animal Resort for quite some time now and have always thought of bringing Aly there. So we decided to head up there.

We arrived at about 11.30 am and maybe because it was a public holiday and all, there was already a huge crowd there! The place opens at 10 am so if you are thinking of heading there in the morning, I would recommend that you go when it opens. The animals would also probably be more alert and responsive. Because by the time we reached, most of the animals would have eaten their fill and were not too interested when we tried to feed them. Haha.

I love the hand painted signs!

Admission to the Animal Resort is free. But you do need to buy the animal feed if you would like to feed them. It's not too expensive, $2 for 3 packs. There are different foods for different types of animals.

The first animal we saw was this prehistoric looking bird, called a Cassowary. We tried to feed it with bread and carrots but it didn't seem too interested. Haha.

So we went over to see the one and only horse. Apparently, he bites! So unfortunately we couldn't touch him. Aly was so scared of the horse and refused to go near it so Mummy ended up having to feed it!

All set to feed the horse

End up Mummy had to do it!

And then a family of geese appeared just as we were heading over to the pond to feed fish!

And then Aly surprised us by saying she wanted to feed the geese and starting chasing after them!

Finally caught up with them!

She surprised us by going so near the goose!

The goose was almost Aly's height! And as you see in the background, there were A LOT of people.

Next were the peacocks!

Aly was very into feeding the peacocks as well!

The very fierce looking Marabou Stork.

Tried to take a family selfie but Aly was not interested, then when we tried to take a couple selfie, she came and photo bombed us!

Aly trying to feed the rooster.

I have no idea what these birds are called, but Aly went around chasing them, trying to get them to eat her bread.

Some of the other birds there...

Next up were the rabbits and guinea pigs.

When we went into the Rabbit house, we saw that their feeding bowls are already full of food! But Aly managed to find a couple of rabbits who were still interested in nibbling her carrots. Haha

Guinea pigs!

This one very excited, actually tried to stand up!

Tried to take a photo with Aly but she was more interested in chasing and feeding the pigeons! Anyway this is a view of of how the place looks like, it's not a very big place, and you could probably cover the entire place in about 1 hour to 1.5 hours.

I would say that this is a good place to bring the kiddies. It's not everyday that they can get up close to animals and nature (yes, certain areas do smell very "natural"!). It's definitely better than being cooped up indoors all day and it's a good change of scenery. Oh, but do remember to bring your mosquito repellent if you do visit. But if you forget, I saw a sign that says you can buy it from them, so that should not be a problem.

Till next time!

Freebie from Studio CT: Wonderful Summer

When I was first browsing through Studio CT's Daisy & Dimples store, one of the kits that caught my eye was her Wonderful Summer Kit. It comes with a variety of really pretty patterned paper and I love the pinks and purples and orange of this kit. There are also these really cute summer related elements like the swim suit, sunglasses, beach stuff and my favorite are the bubbles! It's not only great for scrapping those pool party and beach fun photos, but you can use it for really any kind of "fun" photos.

Here's my layout that I did using the Wonderful Summer kit. Aly can never get bored of playing with bubbles!

And for this week, I created these fun page borders using the Wonderful Summer Kit as a freebie for Studio CT's Facebook Fanpage! The preview is below, and I also used 2 of the borders in my layout above.

You can download the freebie from Studio CT's Facebook page here and check out the post here.

Be sure to leave some love and appreciation if you download the freebie!

Flowers that Make Me Happy

About a year ago, when my crafty fingers were itching for something new to do, I was searching for courses on miniature clay food, like these. And in the process I came across these amazing looking flowers made from clay and was just blown away by how realistic and pretty they look. These are by Decoclay:

[Picture taken from www.decoclay.com]
So pretty right? Can't believe they are made entirely out of clay

So I made a mental note and told myself that I have to learn this someday! So one year later, I finally found some time, and located one of the local instructors and started on my Flower Course 1. This is the most fundamental Decoclay course and teaches you the basic techniques of hand sculpting flowers. There are 10 modules (or projects) to complete. The clay used is Decoclay from Japan, which is an air-dry clay. I love this clay as it is light weight, extremely pliable, and it doesn't sticks to your hands and leave icky residue (like some other types of clay).

So I'm almost done with my C1 course, and here are some of my completed projects.

This is the first project that I did, a Mirror with mini roses

The 2nd project - Rose and Seashell wreath. This is the first time I'm learning to
make the full size rose, my roses look like they have been through some rough
handling. Haha

Box arrangement with Hibiscus, Plumeria and Gardenia

The other view of the box arrangement showing the Gardenia.
This is one of my favourite flowers that I made

Favour box with Orchids. I know they look a little weird but I adore the colours

Favour box with Tiare, looking a little oversized. Haha

Flower basket with Roses, Sunflower, Eucharis and
Daisies. This is by far my favorite among all the projects

Mini Bouquet - Roses, Anemone, Stephanotis, Peony.
I love how the bouquet turned out!

Mini Bouquet - The other view showing the peony

The C1 course includes making 3 figurines as well.
This is the teddy bear and the mini flowers are just so cute.
There are 3 more projects that I didn't feature, the stem flowers (gerberra and daffodil), angel and santa clause. I didn't take a picture of the stem flowers and I'm on my way to completing the angel and the santa clause!
