Majulah Singapura Our Golden Jubilee

This year Singapore celebrates 50 years of independence and I must say I am proud to be part of this little red dot, and to be here to join in the Golden Jubilee celebrations.

I thought I would do a layout as my own little tribute/memory project for SG50. I looked through my old childhood photos and picked some which contained Singapore landmarks that hold a special meaning to me. It was fun looking through these photos, made me feel really nostalgic too! I couldn't really find a single kit that had suitable items for this layout so I picked a little here and there from my stash and I kinda lost count of which kit I got them from. But for this layout, I used quite a number of papers from Kristin Cronin-Barrow's Congratulations kit. I especially love the wood grain paper that I used as my background and the brown star paper, they really add to the vintage, nostalgic feel.

We had a super long weekend, of course with the National Day Parade on 9 August. I didn't managed to get tickets for the parade, so we decided to go to Marina Barrage for a picnic and to catch the aerial display and fireworks. Over the weekend, we also managed to bring Aly to the Science Centre for the first time (it was free entry!) and caught up with friends whom I have not met for a while now. For this layout, I tried extracting photos and blending photos for the first time. And I made several of the embellishments myself and as I wanted to incorporate the SG50 images and icons. Perhaps I can venture into designing some day :)
